Welcome to Notes from the Field
This is my first blog post.
It feels... weighty. I have to decide - what am I going to talk about in this first post that will really make clear what I'm about, what families can expect from Blueprint Behavior?
There are so many important topics - why challenging behaviors happen and how to respond effectively; the importance of positive attention, connection, co-regulation, and play; how to teach skills, build motivation, and do it all in a way that can (massively!) improve your relationship with your child. All of these topics are first-blog-worthy.
When really thinking about all of this, though, I keep coming back to the parents I've worked with, in their homes, for the last 15 years. I've seen all of the struggle, overwhelm, frustration, bruises, triple-locked doors, broken trampolines, dirty dishes, mangled visual schedules, quick wins, high fives, ear-to-ear smiles, amazing breakthroughs, life-altering firsts, joy, and love without limit.
I want you to know that.
I want you to know that I've been beside hundreds of people on this journey - and I can help. Life can feel impossible, like you're driving in heavy fog at night, only seeing a few feet in front of you. But real, life-affirming change is possible if you have someone in the car with you who's been driving this road for years. Sharing the ride will not make it perfect, but it will take you farther and be a heck of a lot safer and less stressful for everyone.
I'm waving at you from the roadside. When you’re ready, pull over so we can buckle up and get going, together.
In Notes from the Field I'll occasionally share practical strategies, real stories from my work, and the shifts in perspective that have made the biggest difference for me and the families I work with. You can subscribe below to receive it by email. ⬇️
